Gunn’s Camp And The Surrounding Delta – A Pictorial

Hi guys, today I taught, I should post this beautiful pics, on one of the Okavango Delta’s most beautiful and oldest gems, Gunns Camp.

Info on Gunn’s Camp:

Gunn’s Camp is in a private concession, overlooking the well-known Chief’s Island, and adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve.

The camp is one of the few remaining vintage safari camps in the Delta. It is set under ebony trees and palms, and offers comfort, but still allows you to feel close to nature.

Mango Airlines Security Checks And Or Tambo Airport Multi-Use Terminals

Hi Folks

We are back again for another post. This post addresses, the new extended security checks at South African airline Mango and also the terminals at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, that will now be multi-use for both international and domestic flights.

I hope this post will assist you in your future travels.

Mango Airlines Security Checks

From April 1, South African Airline, Mango, will introduce further security checks in an attempt to combat credit card and sales fraud. Passengers travelling on Mango who have paid by credit card must present the transactional card on request. Therefore, if you are paying for a ticket on behalf of someone else, you will have to pay directly into the airlines account, or pay cash at an Airport.

OR Tambo International Airtport Multi-use Terminals

From April 1, terminals at OR Tambo International Airport will be multi-use and will process both international and domestic flights.

The two terminals will in future be known as Terminal A and B. Terminal A will extend from the Central Terminal Building (CTB) atrium to the north (previously the international terminal) and Terminal B will extend south (previously the domestic terminal).

The existing international departures hall will continue to be used for international flights only, while the CTB departures facility will be used by both international and domestic airlines.

Counters will have a three-digit number prefaced by A or B. The existing counters in Terminal B will be renumbered in preparation for the opening of the new facility.

Just a quick reminder, please check back tomorrow to this blog, for another one of our recipe posts.

Thank You

Island Safari – A New Beginning 2009

Welcome to our new-look Blog!

We have been a little quiet recently, but have decided to start 2009 with a fresh look, and a plan to keep you up to date with news and ideas for your Safari to Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.

Even with the economic situation (or because of it!), there are still some excellent deals on International flights from Europe to South Africa. Exchange rates have also made  South Africa an attractive destination, and Cape Town, at this time of year is enjoying excellent weather, and great experiences – whether you just want to explore, or if you prefer a trip to the Winelands – where wine has been produced for 350 years!

This is also an excellent time of year to visit Botswana, with the Okavango Delta hosting the annual migrant birds in their thousands. From now until April rates are very competitive… you can also easily combine Botswana with a visit to Victoria Falls (with accommodation either in Zambia or Zimbabwe), where the Falls are at their peak flow – an incredible site (and sound!).

Now onto the lastest news straight from Island Safari.

In The News

Zambia

Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls is happy to report the release of 4 white rhino. At present this is the only Park in Zambia where you can view Rhino. You can visit the Park as part of your stay at Tongabezi Lodge, or as an additional excursion from a number of other properties in Livingstone.
